No Mercy

" Anger is a form of energy and unless it is channelised properly it can destroy us " said Art of Living guru Sri Sri Ravishankar in a interview to a popular national daily recently. He further explained in a flawless manner that the best way to combat terror is not by violence. He may have reiterated his beliefs in age-old Gandhian ethos of ahimsa and non-violence.However as with any ideas, there are skeptics who'll remonstrate this. They have got a valid reason however in their disapproval. Sample this. Mohammad Afsal Guru, the mastermind behind the Parliament attacks of December 13th 2001 was found guilty and sentenced to death. But the execution is yet to take place and the terrorist is buying his time by seeking mercy. A couple of years ago the family of the terrorist filed a clemency petition with the then Indian President Dr Kalam. The family of one of the Indian jawans who attained martyrdom, launched a counter-attack and announced that they would return the medal (which was awarded post-humously) if the mercy-petition was accepted.

It is indeed outrageous that these savages are being considered for amnesty and worse still they have invoked sympathy from certain sections of the society. It is very rarely we manage to capture a terrorist alive from the scene of attacks and even rarer we garner enough evidence to nail him down. Isn't it disheartening that these terrorists are granted the same constitutional rights as the rest of the indian citizens? Should they have the right to appeal in higher courts or approach human rights organizations (who have a found a fancy in lobbying for extremists ).Its indeed well-known that there are so many loop-holes in our law-system ;stalling the execution by unwanted intervention will only help in sending wrong signals throughout the world that we are yet to adapt an iron hand in combating terrorism. Ahimsa and Non violence are best understood by human-beings who have a heart, love a motherland and have a compassion for fellow human-beings. I can't see how this can possibly work out with a terrorist ,who can hardly be classified as even human.

The lone terrorist who was captured alive in the recent Mumbaii terrorist attacks Ajmal Kasab was remanded to police custody and whose reported demand for non-vegetarian dishes was obliged by the officials . Kasab was also reported to be a fan of Amitabh Bachchan's name and kept saying his name.Well what next Mr Prisoner? A Direct To Prison set top box to watch your superstar's movies huh? Perhaps the only reason why consideration is being shown on this prize capture is he is of vital help in the on-going investigations process.

On a drier note ,for those who advocate mercy for terrorists, do consider the plight of suffering of Ordinary Citizens who apart from terrorist attacks are exposed to a plethora of miseries;Himesh Reshammiya's singing, T.R's Veerasamy , Captain's English and much more seriously studying in an engineering college in Tamil Nadu. When we are not shown mercy from the aforementioned onslaughts, should the terrorists be spared for heinous crimes??

PAKISTAN : FRIEND OR FOE??

As India continues to point the finger at neighboring Pakistan for a deadly terrorist attack in Mumbai that killed at least 172 people a week ago, government officials and security experts are urging patience in order to sort out truth from speculation.

India has accused Yusuf Muzammil, a senior leader of the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba,for coordinating the attacks- The Wall Street Journal reported. A senior Mumbai police official told the newspaper that two days before the attack, the group of 10 terrorists who took hostages talked with terrorist group leaders via satellite phone. The group also underwent training in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, the official said.

Muzammil was on a list of 20 people India has asked Pakistan to extradite. Pakistani officials have promised to look into the alleged role of "non-state actors" ,a phrase that usually refers to militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba. President Asif Ali Zardari pledged quick action against anyone proven to be involved.

Here is the list of 20 people.

Maulana Masood Azhar ,Hafiz Mohammad Sayeed , Dawood Ibrahim , Chhota Shakeel , "Tiger" Ibrahim Memon , Ayub Memon , Abdul Razzak , Syed Salahuddin , Ibrahim Athar , Zahoor Ibrahim Mistri , Shahid Akhtar Sayed , Azhar Yusuf , Abdul Karim , Ishaaq Atta Hussain , Sagir Sabir Ali Shaikh , Wadhawa Singh Babbar , Ranjit Singh Neeta , Paramjit Singh Panjwar , Lakhbir Singh Rode , Gajinder Singh.

If you want more information on these 20 angry men (I hope that u have seen the movie "12 angry men ") visit this site http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21573&issueid=82

THE U.S IMPACT :

Its a known fact that Condolezza Rice (U.S secretary of state) visited the Indian prime minister and officials and as well as the Pakistani counterparts. As a lay person, one may think that the U.S is helping India and putting pressure on Pakistan. But the real story (the real fact) goes here. We know that the Pakistan and American forces are carrying out a joint operation to eliminate the "Taliban" which is said to have a base near the pakistan-afghan border. This operation started in Nov 2001 and is still going on. But suddenly, aftermath the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan withdrew its forces from the Afghan border and placed it in the western and southern borders. This would make the U.S forces solitary in the war against Taliban. So, to calm down India's agitation, Rice made a quick visit to both the countries. This would help the U.S forces in Pakistan to fight alongside with the Pakistani soldiers once again. But outside in media its portrayed that U.S is putting pressure on Pak.

Similarly after 2002 parliament attacks, India handed over a list of names to the Pak govt. But they eye washed us by house arresting them for some days and then releasing them. The usual dialogue which we hear from them is "Give us proper evidence. We will take stern action against them", "We have a common enemy" etc etc...... They are suggesting to have "Joint terror investigation" (The team which meets up just once in a month in 5 star hotels and just keep debating---- Absolutely useless speech) another eye wash by the Pak govt. The various suspects and organization which is masterminded behind many attacks in India is banned by almost most of the countries. But they are allowed to roam freely in Pak and arrested once in a while when any terror attacks takes place (Simply sounds rubbish right???)

So this kind of attacks ain't going to end unless our neighboring Countries and Intelligence agencies stop aiding these terrorists. At this point, I remember an old MGR song (Thirudathe paapa thirudathe) in which a line states "Thirudanai paarthu thirunda vittal thiruttai ozhikka mudiyathu" meaning "unless the robber realizes his mistake, we cant stop robbery". Its the bitter truth.

The Great Indian Tamasha

Folks, time for catching some new mega-serial on the television if u have been bored of all the talk about Mumbai blasts and the war on terrorism.Quite bland ain't it?? 24*7 some experts providing discussing threadbare about why exactly the Maharashtra chief minister reacted slowly to the blasts. From breakfast to lunch to dinner time the issue is raging a tropical storm on everyone's minds.Nisha u can be excused here(well even she cant have possibly caused catastrophic damage).

For those who came in late,"Prison Break" is a popular American serial in which a group of "good" guys take on a nefarious company. This has managed to garner high TRP's on the American Channels . Let's get to some facts now.Well in America, any tv serial is telecasted weekly with frequent reruns the same week.A season has approximately 22-24 episodes .Indians have long been trying to act different.(Well yeah quantity matters more aint it).Now folks down in India have long been complaining of how they have been forced to watch "saas -bahus" from noon to night for 365 days a year(save those gandhi jayanthis, diwalis and weekends ,when we can catch up Captain's patriotism on the screen). A swift action of channel hopping can confirm the same.It is plain-truth men are turned-off by neverending saas-bahus ( yeah if your T.V remote is a bone of contention, no TATA Sky plus yet).

Well we present you an alternative, for those who are hoping to catch some acton on the small screen. We are about to launch " The Great Indian Tamasha".(people dont be skeptical about the title. This promises more masala than any Perarasu Flick). "The Great Indian Tamasha" is a script which has the right mix of all ingredients and promises unlimited screenplay and is ready to go on floors. Here's a prelude. The opening season of this grand mega fare is set in a timescale a few weeks preceding "Terror Strikes " on any part of the country.( We can opt for 26/11 if the censor board guarantees clearance). The country's cricket followers are still struggling to come to terms following the exit of Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble. Emotionally choked fans are vying with each other who is the "Greatest " ,Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar or Spin-Wizard Anil Kumble( courtesy Neo-Cricket).The country's prime news channels are conducting a poll as who's the next superstar SRK or Akshay .However it is Aamir who walks with the prize for his mean muscular look in his next movie.Downsouth ,We have a News-channel whose headlines (for the whole week) proclaims their sister movie production company's recently released fare as a mega-hit with the masses on the opening day. Then ofcourse the routine spat between the 2 political big-wigs J and K ( we have no confirmed updates about the squabbles in K's family).

Now as the season progresses the country witnesses attacks on its prime and prestigious spots. We witness hostage rescue operations round the clock, live on the News channels (well even Counter Strike 's no match here).Full credits to the NSG( well i mean it sincerely).Suddenly there's a wake up call that even the Page-3 celebrities and Industrial tycoons are as hapless as the rest of the society( perhaps a few exceptions may be there). The terrorists are shot down as "good" prevails over "evil" and the carnage is over.Next relief package is doled out to the victims of terror ,as the PM addresses the nation," We wont be cowed down by terror."( well spoken Manmohan ,your oratorical skills have surpassed even Martin Luther King). Not to be left alone or forgotten Page 3 celebrities including MegaStar Amitabh Bachchan share their horrendous bed-time woes( well yeah the megastar felt enough threat on his life to sleep with a gun under his pillow). Our well beloved film-maker RGV perhaps knows more about forensics than our country's best experts that he is guaranteed clearance to witness the site of carnage.

As an aftermath of the terror attacks, quite a lot of heads are axed including the country's home minister and suddenly investigations point the finger towards involvement of elements in Pakistan in the attacks. The season concludes on this note ( with a definite promise of a subsequent season on the cards).Well to find a director for this mega-saga,we needn't look further than our RGV. The choice of a production company is stalling the progress ,perhaps the same group which publicized their movie on their news channel is a viable option( no alternative on this front actually other houses are bust following mega failures of super star movies). But monopoly isn't good for consumerism aint it??
