PAKISTAN : FRIEND OR FOE??

As India continues to point the finger at neighboring Pakistan for a deadly terrorist attack in Mumbai that killed at least 172 people a week ago, government officials and security experts are urging patience in order to sort out truth from speculation.

India has accused Yusuf Muzammil, a senior leader of the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba,for coordinating the attacks- The Wall Street Journal reported. A senior Mumbai police official told the newspaper that two days before the attack, the group of 10 terrorists who took hostages talked with terrorist group leaders via satellite phone. The group also underwent training in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, the official said.

Muzammil was on a list of 20 people India has asked Pakistan to extradite. Pakistani officials have promised to look into the alleged role of "non-state actors" ,a phrase that usually refers to militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba. President Asif Ali Zardari pledged quick action against anyone proven to be involved.

Here is the list of 20 people.

Maulana Masood Azhar ,Hafiz Mohammad Sayeed , Dawood Ibrahim , Chhota Shakeel , "Tiger" Ibrahim Memon , Ayub Memon , Abdul Razzak , Syed Salahuddin , Ibrahim Athar , Zahoor Ibrahim Mistri , Shahid Akhtar Sayed , Azhar Yusuf , Abdul Karim , Ishaaq Atta Hussain , Sagir Sabir Ali Shaikh , Wadhawa Singh Babbar , Ranjit Singh Neeta , Paramjit Singh Panjwar , Lakhbir Singh Rode , Gajinder Singh.

If you want more information on these 20 angry men (I hope that u have seen the movie "12 angry men ") visit this site http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21573&issueid=82

THE U.S IMPACT :

Its a known fact that Condolezza Rice (U.S secretary of state) visited the Indian prime minister and officials and as well as the Pakistani counterparts. As a lay person, one may think that the U.S is helping India and putting pressure on Pakistan. But the real story (the real fact) goes here. We know that the Pakistan and American forces are carrying out a joint operation to eliminate the "Taliban" which is said to have a base near the pakistan-afghan border. This operation started in Nov 2001 and is still going on. But suddenly, aftermath the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan withdrew its forces from the Afghan border and placed it in the western and southern borders. This would make the U.S forces solitary in the war against Taliban. So, to calm down India's agitation, Rice made a quick visit to both the countries. This would help the U.S forces in Pakistan to fight alongside with the Pakistani soldiers once again. But outside in media its portrayed that U.S is putting pressure on Pak.

Similarly after 2002 parliament attacks, India handed over a list of names to the Pak govt. But they eye washed us by house arresting them for some days and then releasing them. The usual dialogue which we hear from them is "Give us proper evidence. We will take stern action against them", "We have a common enemy" etc etc...... They are suggesting to have "Joint terror investigation" (The team which meets up just once in a month in 5 star hotels and just keep debating---- Absolutely useless speech) another eye wash by the Pak govt. The various suspects and organization which is masterminded behind many attacks in India is banned by almost most of the countries. But they are allowed to roam freely in Pak and arrested once in a while when any terror attacks takes place (Simply sounds rubbish right???)

So this kind of attacks ain't going to end unless our neighboring Countries and Intelligence agencies stop aiding these terrorists. At this point, I remember an old MGR song (Thirudathe paapa thirudathe) in which a line states "Thirudanai paarthu thirunda vittal thiruttai ozhikka mudiyathu" meaning "unless the robber realizes his mistake, we cant stop robbery". Its the bitter truth.

hello vignesh..Nice post! But are the sources of ur info reliable? Rice is a person with high degree of diplomacy. She is not paid by Obama or was not paid by Bush.. She is an independent political icon of US.So one cannot expect 'eye washing' from her. Also,US had its say in the afgan border disputes.yes,it is true. But that ended after the assassination of Benazir Bhuto. When Bush stepped down,it was a day of harmony for the middle east.I hope u r following me.Now,Obama is thinking of only the developmental aspects and reconciliation works. And secondly,US has the capability to give a lion's fight in the afghan border standing aloof. So,US is here to resolve the issue so that it facilitates the seeking of the Islamic terrorists.US wants support from India for its nuclear deal, cheap labor and the point is "India is developing"!I can clear the political knots that u have in ur mind vignesh.. and only if u r ready to lend an ear!I really appreciate your lateral political thinking da! c ya!

Dear friend, i don't post political issues with blind eyes. Coming to the first issue..... I am not blaming Rice. For any country its interests are the prime importance. Even though Rice came to solve the terrorist issue, the Afghan issue(Pak troops moved) would had been the primary topic discussed when she met the Pak officials. She being patriotic, did the correct thing for U.S.and at what point in my post, I said that she was eye-washing. I mentioned that Pak was eye-washing. What Rice did is 101% correct.I am really surprised when you say that U.S can give a lions fight. Okay lets look at the facts.Take a look at "The Hindu" dated 9 dec, page number 13. 100 vehicles destined for the U.S led NATO forces in Afghanistan were set ablaze by the pro-taliban forces. Does this seem like a lion's fight to u?? Even the Iraq war was not fought alone by the U.S It was helped by the British and NATO forces. Ofcourse, U.S has a strong military force. But it cant win a war without the help of the neighboring country. During the war against Iraq, the forces were stationed in Kuwait. Similarly here it needs the help of Pak. So, if Pak withdraws support, it would be hard battle for U.S to face. Yeah, i accept your point that its dawn for middle east when Obama comes into power. But, we have to wait and see what he does. But my post has got nothing to with him. I think that you are insisting the point that India is strategic partner to U.S. Thats absolutely true. Friend, these issues will be very hard to believe. But only when you read though a lot of sources, papers and news, you will come to know about these deep matters. Its not any kind of knots I have made up here..... But simply some hard facts to believe. If you can refer to last weeks Hindu, (or if u have seen TIMES NOW) you can see why i have posted all these(Rice's primary visit to India and Pak)

Vignesh.. think u have got the right-sized shoe on ur wrong leg! U misunderstood me completely.I said US has the "capability" to give a lions fight being a powerful nuclear armed nation. In the sense US can manage the talibans offhandedly. If u deny this i am not sure abt ur knowledge in the US military developments.Humanity concerns wont allow such bizarre to occur. Moreover, this issue is not at all related to the patriotism of one's country. And yes US needs help from Pakistan. But only regionally and not in the battle of bangs.I hope u can get my point.I am happy that u quoted the sources in ur comment.Perhaps critics are a bit too stringent in their comments on US.Think you are forgetting the fact that Pakistan was declared the 'epicenter' of terrorism and terrorist activities by the US intelligence agencies and the military, immediately after the Mumbai terror attacks.I accept ur point. There is a relation between the CIA and the ISI which was assumed to be the masterminded conspiracy of Benazir Bhuto's assassination. So the thing is Justice must me made to India for the attacks.Hard facts? u say.. and ya really hard to see the frame set of the critics..My message:u gotto look at the other side of the coin as well! A nice topic to debate da.. keep blogging.. cya
